In search of patterns in biological data

Dr. Evan Steeg's research has straddled the fields of computer science and molecular biology for more than 20 years. In applications ranging from DNA sequence analysis to protein structure determination to gene expression microarray analysis, the common theme has been the development of efficient algorithms that detect significant patterns in biological data. His inventions formed the basis for the PARTEQ spinoff Molecular Mining Corporation, which Dr. Steeg managed for five years; and these innovations are still available commercially in the GeneLinker™ software now sold by Improved Outcomes Software (formerly Predictive Patterns Inc.) of Kingston.
